An Ondo state Magistrate Court in Akure has sentenced Friday Okeneji, a clergyman to two years in jail for stealing chemical ingredients valued N130,000.
According to the police, he was charged in court with two counts of breaking and entering and stealing. Okeneji committed the crime on July 2, 2023.
The defendant, who pled guilty and is the presiding pastor of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Iwaro Oka Akoko, Ondo State, said that he had no source of income and wanted to gather N150,000 for his mother’s funeral in August.
The Magistrate, Damilola Sekoni, ruled that the pastor was guilty of the allegations and sentenced him to two years in jail with the option of a N100,000 fine. Okeneji was also counseled to change his ways.
