In a recent statement, a music enthusiast identified as Prince Theophiluz shared a shocking revelation where he told upcoming artistes never to sign for Davido, Wizkid and Burnbaoy.
Prince Theophiluz in the interview uttered that it is better for an upcoming artiste to be independent rather than signing for a record label owned by Davido, Wizkid and Burnaboy and by extension recommends ideal record labels in Nigeria for them.
Backing his point, the music enthusiast stated that Davido, Wizkid and Burnaboy are presently at the peak of their career and they still want to take over the world.
He added that signing for DMW, Starboy Records, and Spaceship is on a dead end as the three artistes mentioned won’t have time for their signees.
Prince Theophiluz added that, Mayorkun and Peruzzi out of all artistes signed by Davido were able to succeed mainly because they added value to Davido career and he return he focus on them y letting them grow.
Using YBNL owned by Olamide as a good example of a worthy record label in Nigeria, Prince Theophiluz says that when Olamide started signing upcoming artistes, he gave himself a break by stepping down so as to give room for Fireboy and also extended to Asake who recently shutdown to 20K capacity O2 Arena.
He further added that Olamide being able to be a successful record label owner is because he is not thinking of taking over the world, unlike Wizkid, Davido, and Burnaboy who are still aiming at shooting at the stars.
Apart from YBNL, the music enthusiast mentioned Mavin Records by Don Jazzy and Chocolate City as good examples of record labels that upcoming artistes should sign for.
