Yusuf disclosed that it was an assassination attempt on the clergyman but claimed not to know the motive behind it.
One of the suspects involved in the attack on the convoy of Apostle Johnson Suleman, the general overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, has been arrested.
Recall that on October 21, 2022, the clergyman’s convoy was attacked by some gunmen who killed three policemen, two drivers and a lady.
Months after the fatal attack, one of the suspects identified as Yusuf Ismail, has been apprehended and paraded before newsmen.
During questioning, Yusuf disclosed that it was an assassination attempt on the clergyman but claimed not to know the motive behind it. He also revealed that he wielded an AK-47 during the attack and was the first to open fire.
The spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, Muyiwa Adejobi, stated that Yusuf Ismail Isa was arrested by the Intelligence Rapid Team after a thorough investigation.
Adejobi said;
“Following an intensive investigation into the fatal attack on the convoy of Apostle Johnson Suleman, the Founder of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, Auchi, on October 21, 2022, along with Benin police personnel, who were gruesomely murdered, the operatives of FIB-IRT on Auchi road comprising six people, including three of the assailants, apprehended one Yusuf Ismael Isah ‘m’, a native of Okene, Kogi State and a plumber, at Agbaraoluwa Phase 2 Ijoka, Akure, Ondo State and recovered five Ak47 Rifles, two K2 Assault rifles, 180 live ammunition and 4 suspected IEDs were found in his apartment.”
