She was approaching from the 10th floor when the elevator, which had supposedly been malfunctioning for some time, collapsed to the bottom floor.

A medical doctor identified as Dr. Vwaere Diaso has passed away following an elevator mishap at the General Hospital in Odan, Lagos State on Tuesday, August 1.

Vwaere, who earned her medical degree from Babcock University, was allegedly on her way to pick up her food from a dispatch ride when the event occurred, according to her coworkers and friends.

She was approaching from the 10th floor when the elevator, which had supposedly been malfunctioning for some time, collapsed to the bottom floor.

She was taken to the emergency room when she was discovered where she died.

Her friends and colleagues took to social media to lament their loss and reveal that the elevator had been faulty for sometime but the hospital management allegedly failed to repair it until it claimed her life yesterday, August 1.

“Particularly aggrieved because we’ve complained for a long time about this elevator. We’ve maneuvered, managed and prayed each time we had to use it. Empty promises will be made to fix it….till it killed one of us,” one of her colleagues wrote on Twitter.

Another commented; “Corruption kills. This is the real life consequences of having people award contracts based on nepotism and skim off budgets.. cause that elevator has been bad since I first used it in 2018. Refused to solve it permanently. Mow I’m hearing the bastards are telling people to lie!! Better don’t let them bully you!!! That could have been you in that elevator.”
