It is believed that this mob action is in reaction to the controversial video he shared.
A video circulating online shows a group of angry Muslims burning a banner with popular singer, Davido’s photo in Maiduguri, Borno state capital.
This comes after Davido was called out for sharing a music video by his new signee, Logos Olori, which was met with harsh criticism from Muslims who found its content offensive and disrespectful.
The controversial video portrayed men dressed in white ‘jalabiya’ praying and dancing in front of a mosque.
Davido captioned it, “Allow me to re-introduce, @logosori with his new single “Jaye Lo”… Lets Run It Up one time! Let’s take over the world.”
Muslim believers were deeply upset by the video which they deemed disrespectful to their religion, Islam.
Some vowed to stop downloading and streaming Davido’s music, while others threatened to take matters into their own hands if he didn’t remove the video and offer an apology.
Responding to the outrage, Davido eventually took down the video from his Twitter account, but he did not issue an apology to the Muslim community.
In a new development, some Muslims in Maiduguri have taken down a banner featuring Davido’s photo and set it on fire. It is believed that this mob action is in reaction to the controversial video he shared.
